Information about the Resort

Bansko is a town in Southwestern Bulgaria, located in the Blagoevgrad region, 145 km away from Plovdiv and 150 km away from Sofia. It is a popular resort both for European and Bulgarian tourists. As a gateway to the Pirin Mountain, the town has wonderful nature and welcomes all admirers of picturesque views and fresh alpine air.


The relief is plane at the riverside valleys to hilly in the mountainous regions. The climate is continental to mountainous at higher altitude. Summer is short and cool while winter is snowy, mild, and long.


The town is known as one of the most important winter resorts in Bulgaria. The climate conditions are excellent for winter sports. The snow cover stays from December till April and the alpine character of the Pirin Mountains provides great opportunities for professional and amateur skiing. The highest point of the ski center is 2560 m and the lowest, 1000 m. The ski area provides 17 marked trails with total length of 65 km from which 30% are for beginners, 45% for advanced ski riders, and 25% for experienced ones. The guests could take advantage of the 27 km modern lifts with great capacity and get to the slopes faster and in comfort. One hundred and seventy artificial snow machines guarantee the presence of snow cover during the whole ski season.


After the start of the annual Bansko Jazz Festival, the town has gained international popularity as a pop and jazz scene. It has been held since 1998 and has welcomed numerous world famous performers.
